Sony PS5 Sales January 2021

A recent report by Gizmochin states that the PS5 sold around 3.4 million units worldwide in 2020. We still don’t have any updates on what the sales figures for this month look like, but we are sure to receive some. It is expected that Sony must have shipped another million units of their newest machines.

The sales are so good that the console has remained out of stock on almost all major websites since its launch. Gamers are having a hard time getting a console due to this and scalpers, who are grabbing most of the stock and reselling for exorbitant prices. Most major retailers are taking steps to ensure scalpers don’t deplete their stocks, and we hope the situation improves over time.

Sony has stated that they will ramp up the production for these consoles this year. The gaming giant has promised to ship upwards of 18 million consoles this year, along with a promise of exclusives such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon: Forbidden West. With most of the promised stock planned to be shipped earlier this year, most gamers won’t have a lot of difficulty in picking one up sometime soon.

PS5 retails in two variants-PS5 Physical Edition which costs $500 and PS5 Digital Edition at $400. For more on video games and anime, stay tuned to The Profaned Otaku.
